Which of these monitor should I buy?
Hi all,
Looking to purchase an IPS monitor around the £100 mark, which has built in speakers and 22". Which of these two shall i go for?
1. Viewsonic £109

Reviewed quite well:

I would personally buy the Viewsonic one since it has decent reviews. One of the reviews for the Iiyama one on amazon stated they didn't receive a UK plug and only a european plug, so that might be something to watch out for. Another also stated that the built in speakers weren't that great - However this is something to be expected of built in speakers. If you don't mind me asking, why did you want built in speakers? Generally speaking external ones are a lot better and can run you something small like 20-30 quid.

That'll just be a dodgy Amazon seller selling grey import versions, nothing to do with the monitor itself.
Re: Which of these monitor should I buy?
I was thinking I would save space,b it now realised I have small USB USB speakers lying around.
I went for the Viewsonic had a quick play of PES 2016 when it arrived. Had a huge stand which I didn't like too much. I thought it was okish, but wanted better so went and ordered an IPS the LG 22MP68VQ no speakers but a smaller stand, which I can power with the small USB USB speakers I have. It's in the post now and can't wait for it to come. Should have good colours as it meets 99% of the sRGB colour space.
Re: Which of these monitor should I buy?
I personally prefer Viewsonic 144hz TN to my previous IPS panel, but good luck with your choice. IPS is great compared to any cheap TN.

Interesting, am I right in thinking that it would tax the graphics card? How much do they cost? Thanks

Depends on the resolution.
Higher refresh rate only increases what the screen can display, it has no impact on graphics card performance.
Well, maybe an indirect one. Some people find they like the smoother motion at higher refresh rates in less demanding games so much they spend more money on faster cards so they can play most games like that.

Every desktop monitor does, sRGB has been the standard colour space for computers since the CRT days. Thin laptop panels can struggle, but I don't think I've ever seen a desktop review showing a substantially smaller colour space.
Generally the problem is the opposite. Colour calibration isn't terribly well supported, or at all by a lot of programs, so if you buy something with a wider colour space if it can be difficult to stop the colours being incorrect.
Colour space is also determined by the backlight, not the LCD matrix. (TN, IPS etc. are different structures of the cells of the matrix).
Does IPS have 'better colours'? That's a tricky one. TN's viewing angle issues will often cause the same colour to appear as different shades on the top of the screen compared with the bottom. Purple is often particularly vulnerable:

Beyond that I've yet to come across a measurement or explanation for a difference. I suspect at least some of it is just down to people half-hearing about the angle colour shift and then taking that as the explanation for the improvement when they upgrade from a low quality monitor to a higher quality one.
Panel quality is undoubtedly a bigger factor in general picture quality than type.
