    Which VR to go for.......

Just wondering which VR setup to go for

But before you all rush with recommendations A couple of points to consider, I have a long term chronic condition and as a side effect of this I have inflammatory arthritis in both my left hip and shoulder also have a weakened spine from long term usage of medical steroid for said condition. Full room will not be essential factor maybe nice in the future for short term use to play with. Looking for something to use sat at a desk with my hotas stick and steering wheel. Current pc spec is 6700k with 16GB ram 200GB SSD boot and 1TB games SSD. Graphics are 2 x R9 290x in crossfire.

Main games ATM will be Project cars and Dirt rally and Elitie Dangerous (which I anit played in ages but probaly will do more with vr setup.

I know the main setup I have been looking at is the rift but was wondering what other sytems are worth it IE razors OSVR

Look forward to some reply's and thanks

If you like driving games a lot....will you be embracing PS4 or Neo for GT7? If so, that may decide your choice.

Otherwise, I would wait for gen2 (or 3). Let others pay the premium prices and put up with the first-gen issues.

I see HTC just put the Vive up 70 quid or so due to exchange rates......makes that obscenely expensive for what it is now. I expect others to follow suit as there seems to be a glut of orders for HMDs that are going to collect dust over the next year or two....

Only play on pc can't afford other systems as well. Might do the sit and wait but was really hoping to get one this year as the mrs says I can have something big for me birthday, the vive was already pushing what I could spend and now is too much.

Re: Which VR to go for.......

Apparently Sony will look into allowing PSVR to be compatible with PCs, so I'd wait for that. It's cheap and since the only downside of the HMD is the power behind the PS4, it would be the logical choice imho.

Re: Which VR to go for.......

I would say as you want mainly cockpit games the rift is the way to go as the headset is slightly better quality / more comfortable overall.

Like wise the main trick of the Vive is roomscale which doesn't sound like you want to play the endless spin on the spot and either shoot/block waves of something games.

I do own the Rift and have been playing dirt rally and projects cars and it really is something else, I believe elite is epic but its not for me.

I would agree with Percy1983 and go with the oculus rift.

Re: Which VR to go for.......

I tinkered with the DK1 around the beginning of the year and although I absolutely loved the tech, I suffered serious motion sickness. I've heard the latest Rifts have tackled this better so I'm leaning in this direction.

But I'm waiting for Star Citizen before I make a final decision.

Re: Which VR to go for.......

So I'm a huge VIVE fan (I've tried all the main players quite extensively now at various shows) but if no room play is needed then I guess it's simply down to personal preference and as the Rift is so much cheaper, that's where your focus should be. Just want to add that Elite Dangerous in VR is just EPIC. It adds a whole new level to the immersion, I just can't play it with a normal monitor now.
