Is picture quality for other things like viewing pictures, Web and movies much the same as well!? Thanks for all your help cat. Think I am going to go for a 1070 as well.

You won't be able to use FreeSync with the GTX1070,and the Asus is more expensive though.

For image editing I suspect the Dell would be better,but its more orientated towards image editing and office stuff anyway.

I am aware about the freesync. But can't get myself to pay extra just for gsync. I was going to go with the 480 but it just doesn't have the same oomph at 1440p. I have read them reviews several times haha. Just looking for other opinions to add to my own.

OFC,the main limitation it has 4GB of VRAM but OTH you can use FreeSync.

Well just ordered an Palit Geforce GTX 1070 8GB GameRock. Working on monitor now. Still unsure haha. And a subwoofer for my home cinema speakers

Also ordered the Dell 2715h. I looked at the 2717 but review on tft central said there was little different and the 2717 had more lag than the older model. Got it for £370.

I'm also going to overclock the 2500. Will aim for 4.5ghz.

Ia more ram worth it cat? Or is 8 enough? (if 16gb is worthwhile, can I run 4 sticks or better running 2?)

I am going to run my current monitor alongside the new one. I've always wanted two lol. Football and games at the same time haha. Hope I don't have any issues.

We just switched our whole office over to 2715Hs*. Stunning monitors. Superb for photo and programming work. Haven't testing gaming on them, obviously One came with a single dead pixel which we had a bit of back and forth with Dell about before they'd accept a return (they wanted several photos, which we supplied, but obviously quite hard to spot a single pixel error on a QHD display on a crappy camera photo - they wanted a whole monitor shot!) Got there in the end though.

*apart from one guy who demanded a 4K display. He got some Dell 25" 4K and now regrets it as the 2715s are much much nicer.

That's great to hear, thank you. My current dell is great for games so I see no reason why this newer model won't be the same.

I know it doesn't have the new tech of the gsync and freesync models but to be honest, I would rather wait till that battle is decided. By that point (and when I'd look to replace the 1070) I'll want 4k anyway so will most likely be in the market for a new screen. But that's further down the line.

Lol not yet. It's late. Thats on my to do list in the morning. I have my other monitor connected and no lines so hopefully not the card. But yes, dell has a built in diagnostic which I will do in morning as well as try a new lead

Yea I ran dell panel diagnostics (not connected to anything) and it shows up on a white and blue screen. So it is the monitor. Just waiting on box.co.uk replying to support ticket. I am hoping then can send a new one and pick up the faulty one at the same time.

Thats a shame,but doesn't Dell kind of sort it out directly??
