    a mate of myne has a sony vaio laptop and has forgoten her pw and she has windows xp any1 know a way to change or findout her pw without formating

    Log in as the administrator and change the account. If she can't remember the administrator's password, then at your own risk use the following:

    BUT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Yes, all of them. It'll allow you to reset the admin password, and then you can login and reset hers.
