    Serial ATA on PCI?

I have just built a new system and a colleague in the office also wants to add extra drives...

I already have used the two on board serial ATA's on my new machine and both of the second IDE channel is used, can I add a PCI card, such as ...

    http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...ode=IO-PIDE150

And add in as many extra drives as I want? I want to specifically add 3 x 300GB drives for file storage into the PC and as its an Antec P160 I have the room...

So I would end up with...

    1 x 160GB drive on serial ATA 1
    1 x 160GB drive on serial ATA 2
    1 x NEC 3520 on IDE Master channel 2
1 x Liteon 52x CDRW on IDE Slave channel 2
3 x 300GB drives on the serial ATA PCI card.....

I don't want to do raid, I just want to have standard storage....will these PCI card do the job?

Can't really tell; the product shots show two completely different cards; 1 with two connectors and one with 4. I SUSPECT, however, that you'd be limited to two drives. Suggestion: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...roductID=83209

So it is directly possible, I am not overly concerned on the model of the card, but wanted to make sure its physically possible.

    Thanks m@

I got a 2 port SATA RAID from microdirect, you could get 2, 2 ports but thats taking up PCI slots.

I added one of those highpoints nichomach suggested for my dads office server and its a good quick card with stable drivers 4 ports and includes 4 SATA cables as well

That's nice to hear; cables are something you can really get stung for - yes, KVM manufacturers, I'm talking to you!
