Monitoring with headset?

Heya,

Just wondered how many people use a mic/headset *without* monitoring enabled?

I've been having some problems with the various replacements for my now-broken Corsair Vengeance 1500 headset, the most recent being a soundcard with seriously laggy monitoring. It's my first experience with soundcards, but apprently Asus thought it'd be great to market this without the ZLM feature that most others seem to have.
I use closed-back headsets, so it's like trying to talk with your hands clamped over your ears, but enquiry threads regarding the problem were full of people stunned that I would ever want to hear myself speaking...

So yeah, just wondered if anyone else here enables things like Monitor or Listen To This Device?

I've only ever had my voice feedback into my headset for giggles when trying to keep up with the delay. But yeah, you do need to be disciplined not to shout when there is loud noises in your headphones.
