    Buffalo LINKSTAION NAS

    Has anyone had experience with the Linkstation network attached storage device?

    In particular, has anyone connected an external USB hard drive which is formated with NTFS?

    Buffalo say that the Linkstation can read (but not write to) an NTFS formated USB drive that is conected to one of its USB ports.

    So far, I have had no luck in this. I've tried two different manufacturers of hard drives and 3 different external enclosures. Just cannot access a NTFS formated drive.

    Thanks

    Sounds like that thing runs Linux. Is it running the latest software version on it?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Yes it is a Linux thing, and indeed I have the latest firmware.

    Buffalo insist it reads NTFS. I've everything, including exact instructions from Buffalo Tech. Then again, I don't trust their tech support because they give contradicting info. Eg. They told me by email that their DRIVESTATION external usb hard drive is pre-formatted with EXT3 Linux. When questioned this by email they said this is true and windows can read it but you have to network map the drive. When I rang them, they said it is pre-formatted with FAT32.

    I hate incompetent tech support!!

    Basically it SHOULD read NTFS. Can you shell into it?
