Question Will a Palit GTX 1080 Super Jetstream fit in my rig?

Hi guys, I have a relatively old rig with 2x GTX 780s in, and I'm wanting to swap those out for a GTX 1080, just not sure if it'll fit. Can anyone advise if it will or not? This is my setup:

Corsair Carbide Series 500R Black Mid Tower Gaming Case
    Motherboard - MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
    CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K Haswell 3.5GHz
    CPU Coolers: Corsair H100i Hydro
    Memory - DDR3: 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance Pro Silver 2133MHz
    NVIDIA Graphics - 2x SLI 3GB EVGA GTX 780 863MHz
Power Supply Unit: 850W Corsair Pro HX. Modular 80PLUS Gold 90% Efficiency (Dual GPUs)
Solid State Drives: 256GB Samsung 840 Pro
    System Drives: 3TB Seagate Barracuda SATA 6Gb s 7200rpm 64MB Cache
Optical Drive 1 - DVD Blu Ray: LiteOn IHAS124 24x DVD Reader and Writer
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 8 64bit - OEM

    Thanks!

That case has a GPU clearance of 452mm (I assume you have to remove one of the drive cages though for the full amount of that) and the 1080 jetstream is only 285mm in length so you should have plenty of room.

The only real issue about jetstream's though is not the length of the card but the thickness of the cooler, it takes up 2.5 slots which might not cause issues with your current case or motherboard but if you for example wanted to go for a smaller form factor like mini-itx in future you might have issues getting a jetstream to fit inside most itx cases where as with a two slot card you wouldn't have that issue if you ever chose to go down that path.

So in short yes it will fit in your system but you got to wonder whether the extra "chunkiness" is not only compatible with your current build but whether it limits future upgrades of any sort.

Your case spec - says "Maximum GPU Length 452mm" So you should be fine.

    "relatively old" = Haswell i7 + GTX 780s?!

This is obviously some strange use of the word old that I wasn't previously aware of.
