Build me a shuttle SN45G
I already have an SS51G but i am thinking of selling it and going for an AMD based pc again. I have an Ati 9800pro and 1GB of Samsung 2700 DDR but i may sell the ram and get some 400Mhz stuff and also sell my 2 80GB Barracuda drives and get one larger capacity one, as you can see performance is what i am interested in.
-
Basically what i want to know is if this new setup is really going to be much faster than my current one.
New Setup
SN45G
512Mb Kingmax PC3500 433Mhz DDR
Barton 2500 (from cpu city)
Current Setup
SS51G
1Gb Samsung PC2700 333Mhz DDR (only works in safe mode)
P4 2.26B
PLUS all of this to go into the new one from the old one
Rad 9800 Pro
2x Seagate Barracudas 80Gb each
CD Re Writer
So can you guys let me know if this is worth doing please.

if you get a good overclock outta the barton that'd be a very nice system, not too sure about the ram though, the shuttle won't run it at 3500 so getting some good 3200 may be a better option giving you tighter timings
-
OK mate i will choose my ram more wisely but will it be faster than my current setup
-
yeah, at stock speeds it should be of similar if not better performance, but get the fsb up to 400 on your cpu in sync with the ram and it'll be a whole lot better.
-
I think that i may go for this setup then just got to find a decent cpu now.
-
Thats roughly what I got.
SN45G, Barton 2500, rad 9800 pro, 512mb pc3500 from corsair.
I suggest that u only use 1 HD if ur gonna overclock as I've found that the power gets a bit drained when running 2 hard drives. I can't run my DVD-R at 4x because there isn't enough power to the drive :(

cheers for the advice mate
