Thread: last minute advice?

    Lightbulb last minute advice?

    finally all my components from dabs arrived save and sound! (thank god!) this is the first time i try to assemble a pc together myself, any last minute advice would be greatly appreciated! thank you
    Brand new kid in the world of building PC and MILD OC-ing~

    ASUS A8N-SLI (i know is not deluxe)
    AMD ATHLON 64 3000+ S939 (i know is Winchester)
    ANTEC SLK1650B w/ 350w ATX 12V (i know i can get better)
    MAXTOR DIAMONDMAX 10 SATA 160GB (i know is noisy)
    ASUS EAX300/TD 128MB (i know is crap)
    CRUCIAL 512MB DDR400 PC3200 RAM (i know is only value ram)

    Make sure you put the right amount of thermal paste on - not too much and not too little! Also, make sure you put the heatsink on correctly - it may sound stupid, but it can be all too easy to put it on the wrong way round.

    make sure you are earthed before doing anytyhing, i.e. touch a radiator or the metal inside the case, better still you shoud have a wrist band for earthing!

    also have a quick scan on google to describe how to put it together, time well spent now will save time in the future!

    Make sure you're earthed properly. Nooo static charges. ^beaten to it ^

    RTFM! Always helps to wipe the cmos before starting too.

    From your sig- Diamondmax 10 noisy? I have the 200GB one and to my ears it's as quiet as a church mouse. I mounted it on elastic bands in a 5 1/4" bay just to be on the safe side though.
