    agp to pci-e converter?

    hi
just wondering if there is anything that could enable my agp 6800gt to run in a pci-e slot. I know you can do it the other way around but how about this?

nah - not gonna happen. An adaptor would make the card innacessible from the back of the case.

Well - technically it /should/ be possible, but it's unlikely that you'll ever see it for the physical reasons skuzgib mentioned - and the fact the graphics companies will want you to spend out on a new card instead :S

There are a couple of AGP/PCI-E mobos out there - but they imitate AGP using clocked up PCI connector. For average desktop tasks this is ok - but I wouldn't want to run games on it.

Hang on a bit longer... the new Via chipset looks quite good for both AGP and PCI-E.... I doubt it'll handle SLI though
