If true it would make Intel CPUs even harder to tell apart though. Even more marget-segmentation would make Intel desktop as bad or worse than their mobile parts.
This being Intel, they'll probably take something else off instead but disabling some instructions or feature.

That would be very interesting, though 100W isn't a speed bump that is an overclock isn't it

I notice the rumours of embedding an AMD GPU are doing the rounds again as well, though that probably makes more sense as a laptop part. Would be interesting to have an 8 thread i5 with decent graphics, but in a desktop part the thermals could be crazy.

The only way I see Intel taking that route is if it plans to give all i7s at least six/eight cores.
