Unhappy Beee Baaa Beee Baaa Beee Baaa...

    ... yells my computer!

Well after many months of my computer working brilliantly with no hardware problems at all, its decided it wants to play the fool!

Randomly it decides to reboot but instead of loading up again, the screen doesn't get a signal and the computer starts emitting that siren! It usually boots properly once I have switched it off and turned it back on again. But I did have to reset the bios once.

The only ever time I have had this problem before this, was when I think I clocked it too high, or I didn't up the voltage enough.

It was running 200 * 11.5 for ages with 1.62v with no problems at! Totally stable tested with prime95!

I have now dropped it down to 200 * 11, but it did it again a moment ago...

Now I would guess it has something to do with it being overclocked, but why would it start doing this now after working fine for months?

Temp-wise, the cpu has usually been running mid-40's under load which isn't bad considering its a bit dusty and the water needs changing!

Unfortunately it isn't consistant! It has done this while playings games, checking email, and whilst just browsing the net. What's my computer trying to tell me? Does it want a clean? Has it decided it doesn't like being overclocked? Or does it just not like me anymore? Would anyone be able to translate "BEEE BAAA" into English for me?

    Specs are as follows:

    XP-M 2400+ (Usually at 2300MHz, 200*11.5)
    Epox 8rda3+
    1GB Crucial PC3200 (Standard stuff)
    Geforce 6800
    Antec 430W TruePower
    2x Samsung 160GB SpinPoints

    Thanks

try running the CPU at its standard clock for a day or two and see what happens. power sagging generally doesn't hurt circutry other than bit corruption, i would be more worried about applying too much voltage and shorting something

I had an old Gigabyte board that had a temperature alarm that sounded like that.
According to the Epox 8rda3+ specs, it too has a high Temperature alert - it's either that or voltage related, methinks...?

    Cheers for the replies guys!

I will have a play with the voltages and un-clock (is that a word?) it for a while and see how it goes...

I have that problem now and again with my NF7-S. I found that just lieing it on its side for a couple of days usually stops it for me....*touch wood*

    Well here's my update!

After "down-clocking" my computer, and having a play with the voltages, I still kept having problems!

So yesterday I spent the day stripping it out and clearing out all the dust! I also changed the water as it was getting rather murkey since it's last change many many months ago.

That seems to have done the trick! I have clocked it straight back up to 200 * 11.5 with no problems so far! Temperature wise, the cpu is still running at 45 under full load, but the case temp has dropped to 32 which is a drop by 10 degrees! (I have a very hot room! )

So in the end I blame the DUST!

There have been a number of Hexus forumites who have found a dusty pc to be the cause of a number of problems.

    Glad you got it sorted.

I was using a few drops of water wetter and distilled water, but I am now using a mixture of anti-freeze and distilled water. I'm hoping the anti-freeze will prevent it from going all murkey...
