    New NF7-S v2 Northbridge cooling

    Hi all

The northbridge fan on my NF7-S v2 is on its way out, it makes nasty grinding noises for abotu 10 mins when i startup the PC

im looking to get the fanless blue zalman ZM-NB47J to replace it but im not sure if ill have enough room as i have an SP-97 with 92mm panaflo next door.

Anyone know if it will fit? im not afraid to bend a few pins here and there though im not sure its worth sawing bits off !

heres a pic for you to look at:

I've got one of the blue Zalman passive ones. As long as you're not pushing your FSB 200+ then it'll be fine To remove it there's push pins on the back, nip them together and it pops off.

ive checked out a few pics and it looks like it might just fit with abit of bending of a pin or 2.
i wanna hit about 220 FSB if poss, now that you mention it i did read somewhere that the nf7-s NB can get abit hot, reckon the zalman will be able to handle it?
Can anyone reccomend something that is quieter than the stock crap for similar/better performance?

A zalman is not good enough for anything past 166 fsb... and neither is the stock one imho.

If you had a whole in the mobo tray like me, so you could feel hot hot it gets.. you would belive me

Mines currently watercooled but I think swiftek, thermalright, and microcool all make resonable coolers, but slightly expensive...

That's funny, I've been running a Zalman at 200fsb for pretty much the last 12 months on an NF7S and haven't had a single BSOD that could even remotely be linked to the northbridge.

yep.. well.. youd still burn yourself if you touched the back of the nb. Now I think that if it burns you.. then its too hot for a chip...
