What is better for my needs? (RAM)

    So I'm building this system.

    Case:Akasa 62
    PSU:Tagan 480W Whisper
    Mobo:Asus A8N SLi Deluxe Edition
    CPU:Socket 939 A64 3500
CPU CoolerXP-120 with Delta Speed fan (195CFM)
    RAM:...
    HDD:1x 74gb Raptor, 2x 200Gb Barracuda 7200.7 8MB Cache
    GPU:XFX 6800gt
    DVD-ROM Drive:16x Sony
    DVD-RWPlextor PX-712SA

Should I be getting Patriot XBLK Extreme Bandwidth which is PC3200 and runs at 2-2-2-5 at 400mhz, and 3-3-3-8 at 500mhz

    OR

Should I get Corsair TwinX 1024-4400C25 which runs at 2.5-4-4-8 at 550mhz.

I want to overclock my 3500 to about 2.7ghz, so which would give me the best performance?

the Corsair memory will clock higher with lower memory timings.

    the 3500 runs with a fixed multiplier of 11. so 11 x 200 =2.2ghz. to get to 2.7ghz, you'll need to up the bus to 245 (490mhz)

is that delta fan speed adjustable? otherwise i think it will be excrutiatingly loud. and at 195cfm, it might only drop the cpu by a couple of degrees compared to around 100cfm.

Well I am also buying a fan controller, so I can drop the speed down a bit.

What makes you say that??? I thought they both used TCCD chips & a Brain Power pcb. I'd say they'll be about the same.

    Oh and the Patriot will run 3,3,3,8, 1T @ 533 not 500.

I would also advise that my Patriot will run 3,3,3,8 2T @ 560 without errors but obviously your mileage may vary etc.

Also timings on the A64 platform are not as crucial as they were on the Athlon XP so it's less of an issue than it used to be.

As for acheiving a 2.7ghz overclock, good luck you'll need it. Most Winnies are only able to achieve between 2.5 & 2.6ghz.
