    Motherboard/RAM/WIdnows/Whatever ***PROBLEMS***

Right, i bought chaintech vnf3-250 about 3 weeks ago. And everything went smoothly when i tried to installed windows. It gave me sevral memory errors. Can't remeber codes but the WERE memory error (according to m$ website). This was the peoblem with 1 and 2 slots. Third worked fine though so i isntalled windows with the memory on slot 3. But know (after 16 days) when i switch the pc i get that system file is either mising or corrupt. Hen i try to boot wil win cd i still get the same error. Now using memtest86 memory gives no error (1 hr). But system won't boot windows. So is this a motherboard incomatibility problem?

    Thanks in advance.

thats a WINDOWS file missingI think, not a memory problem. Did it crash or get Rebooted with a power cut?

That happened to me yesterday, so I had to boot into the recovery console and copy the file from the driver cd to the windows directory.

you need to swap the boot order to boot from CD. then you might find the recovery console on the XP disk.

XP will auto boot from BIOS if its the first boot item in the list

ok, when i try to reinstall XP, i get this error:

    STOP:0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x8082b267, 0xf8989f20, 0x000000)
m$ websute says it is memory error. But when i run MEMtest it is FINE and STABLE with 0 errors for 1 hr when in slot 3.

I ran the system at 166 divider and then its fine (slot 2 and 1) . But it can't cope with 200mhz (auto) as i get about 14,000 erros . Flashing to the latest bios dosen't help.

This clearly is a motherboard problem.

I guess its an RMA job and a loooong wait for PCW to test the mobo

You can check whether the memory is working fine using Memtest.

But does it pass on the motherboard that you're having problems with?

Very much dooubt the board is faulty, more likley the wrong settings are being used resulting in errors.

Try looping each test (5 would be the best, try it first) assome of the tests wont really find anything anyway unless theres something very bad...

Underclock the mem, nb/fsb of mobo, slacken of the timings, see if that works.., if it does you probably wont notice much differnce and atleast itd work.. and if ya have to, up the voltage of ram to 2.6/2.7.

Well, when i run the mem @ 166 it is fine and stable.
    Haven't tried voltages
Settings are all fail safe in BIOS.

So, as the mnemory can't run at 200mhz there shouldn't be problem in rmaing the board would it because as i have already said mem is absolitely fine ?
