Upgrading laptop, now or wait until january?

My laptop died and I am in the market for a new one, need a 17" with probably a GTX 1050ti for casual gaming now & a bit of future proofing should I invest into more serious games.

Through my research i am seeing that the latest gen of graphics cards were all announced in January 2017.

Is there likely to be much of a surge in discounts off the bottom range of 17" GTX 1050i (all around £900 mark)come January, or is it likely to take several months to really trickle through?

has anyone ever noticed a trend in the last few years?

    many thanks,

In that older thread you made,I linked to quite a few deals in October:

Here is one which is 17" and has a GTX1060 for under £900:

Thanks very much mate, I hadn't forgotten that thread & am currently browsing some of the suggestions. I was intending to update it with my thoughts.

Edit: just to add, it's whether there is any benefit waiting until January and seeing if they next gen of GPUs are announced, dropping the price of those laptop's above.
