    Best 2.5 ATA Hard-Disk

    Hi all

I need the fastest 100GB ATA notebook hard-disk I can get. It has to be at least 5400RPM but would love 7200RPM.

I have only found one 7200RPM hard disk and that was, "Hitachi Travelstar 7K60 2.5-inch 7200RPM hard disk drive" but its only 60GB.

    Anyone have any advise please.

Ok, basically, the best 7200rpm HDD u can get is 60gb, and its the Hitachi 7K60.

A 100gb 5400rpm is being released this month, which is a major breakthrough.

So, the best speeds you can get for the following sizes:

    20gb - 7200rpm
    40gb - 7200rpm
    60gb - 7200rpm
    80gb - 5400rpm (I believe a 7200rpm will be out within the year)
100gb - 4200rpm (5400rpm version is coming out this month)

I personally have the 7K60, and I can't recommend it more. However, I think in real life performance, you won't tell any difference between it and the 5400rpm.

If I were you, I'd go for the 100gb 5400rpm being released this month (or early next month)

    Thanks for all your help.

    I think I might go for the 100gb 5400rpm.

Nope, they're so much difficult (and expensive) to make.
