I think its locked. IIRC any after 0340 were...

There are ways around it though I think, by making it think its a mobile cpu, you can use the powernow (iirc) tech to change the speed up when its booted.

Definitely locked. You can convert it into a mobile and OC it in software as long as you don't have an NForce2 motherboard.....

NForce2 is fine, it just doesn't support changing the multiplier of Mobile XPs. You can't change the processor multiplier with your board, you'll just have to OC by increasing the FSB.

Is that correct? I've got a XP-M 2500 and can change the multi fine. Not trying to badmouth you or anything, but maybe i just misunderstood your post.

Anyway, if you CAN get it to be a mobile, then use the CPU MSR proggy here:

    http://www.cpuheat.wz.cz/html/main.htm

This can change multi/voltages etc on the fly, if your proc is ok.

Sorry, didn't explain myself very well. I should have said 'locked Athlon XPs or Semprons that have had the L5 mod to turn them into a mobile'. Actual Mobile processors are unlocked of course.

Edit: jonathan phang- I thought those programs didn't work on NForce2? Have you tested it?

Probably not. That's only likely to help you at FSB speeds over 200MHz.

    What RAM are you using?

with this setup, i am using the geil value 1gb.

i do have another two sets of ram but not using them atm becuase im keeping them for my 939system, which should be ordered by monday.

    corsair 3200xl tccd, tested upto 305fsb 2.5-3-3-7-1t at 2.6v
pqi turbo tccd, tested upto 300fsb 2.5-3-3-7-1t at 2.6

the corsair and the pqi will be used with my 939 setup.

so, shall i try the L12 mod then?

No, I wouldn't bother. As long as it's PC3200 RAM then it's almost certainly the CPU that's maxed out. Give it a shot if you've got time on your hands, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.
