Modding a 'Shuttle' with Morex 55w PSU

Calling anyone with some modding experience in SFF!

I'm interested in putting together a 'shuttle' sized case from you e.g.Venus CP668 Black Mini Case or Aluminium ITX Cube EpiaM.

Then adding a suitable motherboard with built in CPU e.g.Via Epia-M 10000 Nemehiah, Via Epia-M 6000 or VIA Epia-V 8000.

Finally I want to power it using a : Morex 55w PSU (As used with the Cubid series cases - this is an external 230v to 12v transformer bundled with an internal DC-DC board which distributes power to an ATX motherboard connection , one hard disk connection and two floppy disk style connections. Uses no fans, so noise is not an issue ! Board size is 160 x 45mm )

Can you lot help me answer :

1. Will this PSU be fine with the board

2. Is it easy to secure the internal DC-DC board to the case assuming I can feed the wires in.

As you might've guess I've knicked the descriptions directly from a website!

The Morex PSU will power the board you want to use but if you are using a Venus Case then does that mean you want to use a full size CDROM and Floppy and a full size HDD???

The Morex PSU will struggle with that kind of hardware.

Give us a few more details of what you are trying to do and we will give you help and advice.

i've reviewed the m10000 and got pictures of the Venus Black 668 on my website (jillajang - http://www.joshwa1.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk ) if you wanna have a look.

a guy called "codebunny" ( http://www.codebunny.org/tech/quiet.html ) is using a silent psu for his m10000/venus system, but he's had to use a 110w power supply as he thought they 55w one would not be powerful enough, especially when using normal size hard drive and cd-roms.

i'm currently using a 90w lite-on power supply (from an old hp brio) with my m10000 , 2 cd-roms , 512mb, and an 80gb western digital.

I go the following response from a tech:

I think with the Venus you wouldn't have any problems, there
would be room for you to mount the board at the front, I don't think the alu itx cube would have enough room.
As for powering, this is tricky. What did you want to put in
it? I'm assuming perhaps a full size cd-rom was on the cards?
Basically the morex psu will only power the motherboard, one hard drive,and a slim lime laptop Cd-rom, larger Cd-roms cause too much drain andyou'll find as soon as they spin up the machine will reset.

my Morex PSU will not power a 7200rpm 3 1/2 hd, an epia motherboard and a 16x DVD. It doesn't have a problem with a laptop drive though.

Does the power pack get hot? Like dangerously so......

I'm going to have wait a week or so until I can get it, I just bought a Guitar!

my external power brick thingy gets warm but not hot, thats powerin a epia 800 and regular hdisk.
