I see okUK have just added to the range of DVD rom Drives that they stock.
The Asus DVD E616 has a very good rep, pity they did not have it in stock before i got my Liteon.

I am a Pioneer slot load fan myself...

my kids tend to break trays, so the slot loaders are brilliant. Mine don't sound noisy Jon-bda, just wondered why yours did?
I am trying to see it your way, but I can't get my head up my arse

Yeah Pioneer, Liteon, etc, are all good.
But DON'T get a Sony. Mine is really crappy. Half the time when I boot up it gets stuck seeking on the drive and thus causing the bios/windows not to detect it, and the other time it just sits there not reading disks. It's pretty slow for a 16x40 drive, too.
