    Question ide ata drives?

    Hello
I need to put a bigger drive in to one of my computers.
I’m sure the drive in the computer that I want to replace is an ide drive
The drive I’m looking at replacing it with is a

    Maxtor 7200 RPM Ultra Series Kit - hard drive - 160 GB - ATA-133.

This is where I’m getting confused. I saw it in the ide drive section on the pc world component site. I thort an ata drive was different to an ide drive?

Will I be able to attach this to my motherboard which is
    GA-7DXR
It’s got 4 ide slots and in the manual it has a diagram with a ring round ide 3 and 4 with the following info (raid/ata100)

I was intending on removing one of the 40Gb drives and putting the new drive on the ide slot that the current drive occupies, or will I need to add this new drive (assuming I get it) to the ide 3 or 4 slot?

    Thank you for any help
    chop

ide=ata. So don't worry. In teh four ide slots. You can fit 8 IDE drives, 2 drives on each cable. These drives includes your cd rom's. Do not ever have a combination of cdroms with hdd in one slot. You can keep teh 40 gig hdd and buy anotehr hdd which will represented by anotehr letter such as e drive. You can raid the 40 gig and the one you can buy so that they become as 1 but u will have to look in the menu on how.
