    Potential New Build

It’s been some time since I built my current PC and am thinking it may be time for a new build. I am however a little out of touch with current hardware. What are your thoughts on these components? I am assuming they are all compatible with each other but it would be reassuring if someone could confirm. Initially I will use onboard graphics.

    MOTHERBOARD
    Gigabyte H370M D3H, Intel H370, S 1151, DDR4, MicroATX

    CPU
    Intel Core i5 8500, S 1151, Coffee Lake, 6 Core, 6 Thread, 3.0GHz, 4.1GHz Turbo, 9MB Cache, 1100MHz GPU, 65W, CPU, Boxed

    CPU COOLER
Noctua NH-U12S Ultra Quiet Single Tower CPU Cooler, 5 Heatpipes, 120mm PWM Fan

    MEMORY
    Ballistix Sport LT Gray 16GB Kit (2 x 8GB) DDR4-19200 UDIMM

    Many thanks for your opinions

What games are you looking to run - it might be worth also considering the Ryzen 5 2600/2600X too which are being launched next week, and the AMD stock coolers seem to be on average better than the Intel ones AFAIK.

    Edit!!

What graphics card are you lookin at too?? What is your total budget??

This pc won’t be used for gaming. Total budget is about 650. As I said in initial post will be using on board graphics initially. Will look at graphic cards at a later time

It might be worth waiting a week to see how the Ryzen 2000 series fares, and at the very least it might cause some price reductions on the Intel equivalents too. TBH,also by adding such an expensive cooler to the Core i5 8500,essentially bumps at the total CPU price to £220ish. I would argue any £15 to £25 aftermarket cooler would be an improvement over the Intel stock one,and the Core i5 8400 is probably not much slower than a Core i5 8500.

    Edit!!

    TBH,even a Ryzen 5 2400G might do the job:

In that video, the chap was running "Autodesk VRED Professional automotive rendering" and it seem to do reasonably well. The second video is Fusion 360. The IGP is pretty strong on the 2400G,so I don't know if that helps or not.

Well I added some more info to my previous post - me or one or the other forum members will probably put up a review thread for the Ryzen 2000 series,so there should hopefully be some more relevant information soon. Like I said it might be worth looking at the Ryzen 5 2400G too,as indicated by some of the videos I posted in case the strong IGP helps out in some of the stuff you want to run.
