Zalman 7000 cpu cooler
wondering if anyone has one of these and are they any good? my current cpu fan is horendously noisey  and despite my efforts I can't seem to get it 'cool and quite' (its on a MSI K8N neo2 plat. motherboard)...it seems permantently 'cool and s*dding noisey'.
any thing i can try that might make it quieter without getting an entirely new fan etc? (which means I'll have to completely dismantle the whole computer to get at the mobo  )
anyone sell quiet 70mm fans at all? or 80mm to 70 adaptors cause I have a couple panaflo's spare, could attempt a rudimentary push-pull affair... :inquisiti

Fan controler? can be made for 50p or less... Have a look at this: http://www.cpemma.co.uk/sdiodes.html
Dont need to use a switch if you dont want.. just put as many normal diodes in series as you want.. 1-6, more might stop the fan starting..
http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/rk...9646&XPAGENO=1 for the diodes.. (a 1N4001 would do..)
Adaptors are poo... axial fans just dont give enough pressure to compress the same air flow into a smaller space...
Check ebuyer for the fan.. they have some *very* cheap.

cheers for that little info-bite

Might have to make one of those...hmm, when's my next tech lesson....

I have a Zalman 7000 on my P4 rig. It is very quiet when turned down to slowest speed and not too bad when running at max speed. At its slowest speed it cools my overclocked 2.4b without problems.

I've got one on my DFI it's pretty quiet (quieter than the other fans ;)) & temps are

sounds like its fine for me then :)

I have the AlCu version and am loving it... It is quiet and it does cool well... One big problem is that if the PC is going to sit on carpet it will clog with dust quite quickly (same for the thermalright type thin fin heatsinks too) which means temps will get worse over time (so every once in a while it needs cleaning)...
For what it's worth it keeps my XP2500+ @ 2.4GHz / 1.9v under 55c at full load which ain't bad considering the torture I'm putting it through ;)

Oh and they're cheapest at komplett and tekheads IIRC
