DFI DR SLI mobo's - revision numbers..

What's the difference between A01 and A02 etc of this board?

I've heard differing opinions on this.. The latest is that a board WITHOUT a revision marking is pre-production and unstable. And that a board with either a A01 or A02 sticker is physically identical but with different BIOS updates..

What's the story guys? Urgent advice appreciated,
    S.

As I understand it, having done a bit of research before purchasing my DFI board, the only difference between the rev. a01's and a02's is the bios - the latter supposedly more stable for overclocking / stability.

The differences between 0 and 1/2 is bios again, and certain hardware bits I think (read: not sure on this point) - lower grade capacitors or somthing like that.

    Someone else should know

    Code:
    A----0----2
    | | |
    | bios rev (major/minor)
    |
    pcb rev
Thats what the bloke at cpu city told me, which he says comes straight from DFI. He said a lot of people have been asking (I was one of them )

AFAIK all boards that have made it into retail channels, all exactly the same pcb and components, but please correct me

Sweet.. This backs up what I've heard elsewhere. Although I did come across what was claimed to be a statement from DFI, saying that if you have received an A00 board, you should return it for upgrade. Can't post the link cos I can't remember ( ), but there must have been some serious issues with the A00 for them to have issued that!

Anyways, I managed to source an A01.. Hopefully it'll play nice with my TCCD, long enough for me to blat it with the latest BIOS.. Then I can get down to some serious Solitaire..

I just got mine, and it's R.A01 (as expected)..

The revision is printed on a sticker on the side of the last of the standard PCI slots, (furthest away from the CPU).

Hopefully everything we've heard about revisions is true, and I won't have any grief with this puppy..

All revision are same hardware it will be A03 where they will upgrade some of the components and a new NF4 core for the ultra boards.
