thermalright xp-120 what nforce4 motherboards can take it ?

as title suggests what boards will take the xp-120 heatsink and a fan as this will be the base for my mates next pc and im trying to push him towards spalshing out a little bit more on decent parts instead of upgradeing things every few months with little to no improvement

Dont think it would fit with a pci-ex card installed... noton theDFI board which is imo the betterof the nf4 boards (although its the only one ive tryed!)

dfi and asus boards work fine. Ive had them both.

i suppose we could always take a dremel to some fins if need be but hes not as adventurous as me so id prefer a board that fits

although it must be a good board and doesnt have to be sli as were both more swayed by ati these days , but this could be changed by the right performance price and picture quality

you could always go for the new zalman 120mm - its a fantastic cooler and is 10x easier to fit than the thermalright.

cool im into that fatality board myself cant see my mate stretching to the prices of that board there expensive are they not ?

i might buy one as i like abit boards and feel comfortable but i may just wait for definite dua core support and soundstorm

If you go with Abit AN8 Fatal1ty you don`t have to use the xp120 there are other good H/S out there, Overclockers like it also for its ram cooling it over hangs the memory slots but the AN8 has its own ram cooler in the box (otesramflow)

i would go for the fatality myself as i dont mind splashing out on the expensive stuff but my mates got a house to start saveing for and a wedding so not as splash happy !

ideally id like him to get the xp120 as its a great allround cooler and he would never spend fatality money on a mobo

its fits on both my Asus A8n deluxe and DFI Ultra., and therefore the other 2 DFi boards as its the same mobo.

but like said earlier you cant put anything in the first pcie slot, not the 16x one the other one.

and the xp120 is easy to fit, take backing plate off takes about 20 seconds new backing plate on 20 seconds and 20 seconds to put the heatsink on 20 seconds.

while we are on CPU coolers any body had a go with the Zalman CNPS7700-CU on a amd 64 rig. what the temps like and will it also fit a abit AN8 fat.

not heard much about the zalmann cooler shamus but with the size of the thing it should be good as most zalmann stuff is fairly good quality and ofcourse low noise !
