    Pioneer 108 problems

    Just a quickie this one....

My Pioneer 108 DVDrw has just packed up. I am going to return it and get a new one, however it has a dvd in it that i need. Is there any way of opening the drive and getting the dvd out? The drive won't power up at all so the eject doesn't work.

    Cheers

I dont know specifically with the 108 but all the optical drives I have come across have a small hole (iirc at the bottom, youll have to remove the drive... oh you are rma'ing it so youll be removing it anyway!) If you insert something like a straightened paperclip it will trip the drive open

one most drives there's a little pinhole on the front that is an eject button, have a look for it, then stick something in it with the drive powered up.

    good luck

edit: must have been at the same time as above, ah well double post for ya

There is a pinhole on the front of the drive, however it doesn't do anything when I stick something in it. There is no power getting to the drive at all, I presume this is what is causing it?

the pinhole thing should work without power (even if the drive is out of the pc!) what are you using to push in there? it does need to go in a fair way
