      • Storage:

What would you spend my £200 on?

Got roughly £200 on the way and thinking i might put it into the pc or maybe something else....not sure yet.

Current Setup based on Dell 4500:

    2.26Ghz P4 533Mhz
    Dell Motherboard
Dell Case (Case can't be changed unless motherboard is and vice versa)
    1GB Crucial RAM
    Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro 128MB+ ATI1 Silencer
    Samsung 160GB 8MB
    SilentX 300W PSU (ATX) (<14dB)
    Samsung CD-RW/DVD Combo
    Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1
    Logitech Z-2200
    Dell 17" TFT
    Logitech MX1000 Mouse
    Standard Dell Keyboard

Going back to the motherboard case issue its because its a dell and the connections between case and keyboard (Mounting holes/power+usb cable) meaning that if i want to replace the motherboard i need a new case too. Motherboard only supports P4 533Mhz processors

    What are the suggestions?
    Thanks
    Ben

Forgot to put memory in the list (added now) but i have 1GB already.

Can't get a P4 3.2HT because the motherboard only supports 533Mhz processors which means no more than 3.06Ghz and it doesn't support HT either

    Not interested in the meal

You might could eBay the graphics card and if you shop around a bit you may be able to a 6800gt.

save up for a bit and get a nice 939 chip, mobo & case. You could even buy it now over your £200 budget and flog the chip you've got now.

What speed is your ram? A64s will work with DDR333 so that shouldnt hold you back.

I'd spend £220.74, chuck the Dell motherboard and case and get:

    1 S939 Athlon64 3000 boxed including fan £97.95
    1 Abit AV8 S939 K8T800Pro motherboard £72.41
    1 Antec PlusView 1000AMG £50.38

All prices inc VAT from Dabs - maybe someone with more time can find them cheaper for you.

And reuse all the other stuff.

Socket 939 isn't going anywhere soon, your 9800 Pro should run current titles acceptably, and I reckon you'd get a gaming performance boost while losing all the stuff which isn't compatible with other manufacturers' stuff.

How much would the dell case/mobo/P4 2.26 be worth?

You would probably need to change the PSU as well, some Dell PC's have a custom PSU to go with the custom case and custom MOBO

EDIT cancell that, you have already upgraded the PSU. Did a standard one fit or did you need an adapter cable?

The PSU in my case was a standard one, a simple swap.

The mobos not got a great spec, 533FSB processors upto 3.06Ghz, 266Mhz RAM (My ram is 400Mhz), IDE, 1 AGP 4x, i think 4 PCI slots
