Which PSU

I guess this has been answered before but can't see it if I do a search.

I'm after a decent PSU prepared to pay up to £70 all in.

AT first I was going for a Tagan but some posters say it is prone to the tick of death.

Looked at the thermaltake Xaser and that also is on an avoid list.

Anybody tried these an Akasa paxpower 460 watt

They have dual 12v rails and I don't read many bad reports.

Also enermax come well recommended

what would you guys recommend?

i would go enermax over the akasa

but it could be worth saving a bit of extra cash and getting an ocz powerstream

I've just got the akasa paxpower. Its a lot quieter than the antec trublue that it replaced but seemed to have more cables.

Beyond noise I cannot comment I've not tried any overclocking since I put it in.

I would go for the Hiper Type R PSU, its quiet and amazingly reliable.

I've got the targan, it's as quiet as anything and doesn't suffer from this ticking noise, but I guess it's luck of the draw! Had an enermax before that which was fantastic.

Funny I have found 35 threads like this using the search function....

Go for the Tagan 480w PSU, Tagan had a bad batch but iirc that has all been resolved and new ones should be fine. At the end of the day all companies have a dodgy batch every once in a while...

Its happened to MSI, ABIT, Asus, OCZ, DangerDen...

I have the Tagan too, it does make a clicking noise, but you can only hear it if you press your ear against the psu.

Antec true power or similar, they are a fantastic, stable brand of PSU

I would go for the Hiper Type R PSU, its quiet and amazingly reliable.

These seem too cheap to be any good but I'll take it on board.

Thats reasuuring about the Tagan as it did get best PSU in Custom PC.

But all in all seem that the enermax psu's get best feedback.

ALL cables are sleeved too - bonus!

I'm with rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishey (well not literally). Enermax NTs are fine, quiet PSUs. I've read some scary stories on Hipers.

I've seen a few reports of failed units and also some that say they are a bit underpowered on the 12V rail. But then there's very few PSUs that don't have some bad reports.
