Looking to build a new rig

Apologies, I was pressed for time. Have lot of DIY work to do around the house which I need to finish by Saturday and wanted to just get this out of the way.
The old rig was a i5 2500 / MSI P67 / 8GB DDR3 / MSI HD 6850 OC 1GB / 500GB Samsung F3 / some Casecom case

What I should have done was hold onto my old MSI R9 380 , which I sold for £150ish.

Another 8gb of DDR3, an SSD and an RX570/580 would have done the trick for gaming.

You said budget was not an issue but £500 is arguably a tight budget lol.

I wouldn't go for 8700 with that budget - if he's using it for gaming then probably a better GPU would help, and pair it with i3 8100 or 8350k (depending on the motherboard) which can be had cheaply used.

8GB of RAM should be alright considering today's prices... but if you're willing to spend a bit more then ideally I would go for 16GB. Anything over it would be overkill for general users, especially gamers.
