I'm kinda thing of using it on my ps4 but the chance of it shorting and wrecking it kinda scares me. It would be interesting to hear of peoples experiences with the stuff.

As in mercury? I wouldn't go near the stuff.

I was referring to this stuff. It says " our special mixture of metals like tin, gallium and indium"
I dipped mine in it one time. Hurt like mad and I had trouble explaining it to the nurse...
more seriously, it is supposed to be reasonable stuff, and somewhere back years ago when I last looked at any of this stuff I think it got good reviews - better than arctic silver, but cost too much to be worth it. I think. Fish out the reviews, they're out there if you seek them.
It works well from what I gather but you need to very careful as it can short things.

Yeah, I've used Coollaboratory Liquid Pro on several of my rigs. It works great, but even the best TIM will only shave a degree or two off your temps compared to something like MX-2.
You do have to take care applying it i.e. remove you CPU from the board, just in case of an errant squirt, which would really FUBAR your motherboard.
IMO it works best applied between the die and IHS on de-lidded CPUs.

If it is the original PS4 then i think it has an Aluminium heatsink, so Liquid metal especially galium will react with aluminium eating through the heatsink.
If you have a PS4 pro they have a copper heatsink, so works very well with liquid metal and there are videos on how to do it on youtube.
I use Grizzly Conductonaut on my i5 ,works very well (i used clear nail varnish to protect the components around the CPU first though)

oh yes, RN is right - gallium + aluminium = bad. G eats the grain boundaries of A and it disintegrates like the foil lining coming off the plastic inner off an old pack of polos. So be VERY careful putting it anywhere near aluminium. Stainless steel, etc are fine though. And IIRC the lid of a cpu is stainless right?
and if that makes no sense, just watch this:

and here's a direct test on a PC heatsink:
so not much use unless you want to generate your own hydrogen.

and here's an interesting comparison to how mercury affects aluminium. Which is one I wasn't as familiar with.

This one is pretty interesting too:

Some very interesting videos there, they almost look alive or organic but aren't as there metal. anyone find them creepy at all (or is it just me)
PS4 Pro then your laughing (But saying that it does have aluminium around the copper base of the heatsink perhaps tape that off too)
I would just watch a few videos a few times.
(Use thin insulation tape or clear nail varnish to protect around the GPU and CPU first though.)
