    delete this plz

    I know this has probably been asked before - but I want to make sure I get the right kit, I am not that clued up about boards...
    I was going to go 64bit but have decided against (I'll do that in another year or two...) and instead get a Skt A board and the best chip I can find for it.

    I need it to be 8xAGP, PCI slots, IDE for my drives, don't need onboard sound and I need to use my PC2700 RAM in it...

    So what is in your opinions is the best Skt A board and chip I can get??
    Budget is around £250 Max.

    Anything better than the NF7-S?

    Cheers in advance!

      • Memory:
      • 1GB of Corsair BH-5 and 512MB of something else
      • Storage:
      • 160GB Seagate Barracuda
      • Graphics card(s):

    Buy a mobile Athlon - they will overclock better than any other or can be kept cooler (and therefore quieter) at stock settings.This is what I have (and where I got it...)

    With regard to mobo, I have no idea, but I understand the NF7-S is good...

    TBH I would recommend going the socket 939 route - why have you decided against it?

    I dont know - but now I've realised I'll be spending about the same amount I may as well..... just seemed I didn't want to be a 'tester' for AMD's 64's.....

    Sod it I'll change my mind (again) 939 it is.... maybe I should change the thread...
