laptop for a bit of gaming

Could anyone suggest what to look for when buting a laptop with gaming in mind?
Looking too spend less than £1000,
The Toshiba satelitte A60 seems a reasonable price as it ships with the Radeon 7000 igp graphics.(Is this any good for games)?
Looking to play World of Warcraft or maybe Rome Total war.

In my experience, I have personally found that Toshiba is expensive they got reliability behind them but expensive! Do what I did will take you a couple of days but search for all typs of laptops. The best specifications under least price is ure best bid, then read reiews on it and see the feed back on company and the product and make a good choice. Also mostly good laptops for gaming, will have NIVADA or ATI Radeon Mobility (9700 with 128 MB is nice - x700 or higher better !! but expensive as well). Anymore info someone else can give, I am personally not that smart or educated about computers but I am learning.

The Acer range of laptops seem good value, better spec for your money than the Toshiba. They are running the Nvidia go5700 graphics chip which seems comparible to the Radeon 9700. Not sure which is the best chipset though.....anyone?

If you want to do some gaming, now and in the future, I wouldn't settle for less than a 9700, with 128mb at least (I hear the 64mb 9700 is a bit pants). Both ATi and Nvidia have or will have new Laptop graphics out there soon, so maybe you should hang on and see what's available.

Also, make sure the graphics card is good enough to play the games you want to play at the laptops native resolution...

oh and the 9700 is better than the 5700
