Consumer Turing to be known as RTX series??

Apparently AdoredTV got sent some details about the new Nvidia cards:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms7HQ7rckpA

    Edit!!

He thinks it might be 7NM if the leak is true,or there is a massive IPC increase.

However, the 106 series GPU which would have been the 60 series card is now a 70 series card.

    For example:

    GP106 was the GTX1060
    GM206 was the GTX960
    GK106 was the GTX660

Having said that,I think we might need to hold off until we see the die sizes. If some of the chips, like the TU104 and TU106 end up being quite big for their classes, then it might be understable on why they might cost more. I cam intrigued at the TU106 and TU116 - I assume the TU116 is a version of the TU116 with no RTX support.

Doesn't look right to me, especially the lower end cards.

2060 looks terrible. There's a huge gap between the 2060 and 2070 if true and 2060 is also the least worth upgrading at only a 27% performance increase from its predecessor.
Given the 5GB VRAM it makes me wonder if it's a cut down chip and we'll see a 2060ti with a bit more performance and 6G VRAM, which no doubt will get praised and sell by the bucketload despite being what should have been a 2060 in the first place. The same with 7G VRAM on the 2070 and a potential 8GB 2070ti.

From what I gather the lower end cards lack ray tracing support, hence the GTX name.

It will be interesting to see how much of this is true, but I expect ray tracing support needs a decent amount of hardware - the Titan V used its tensor cores for RTX. It could be quite possible the TU106 is actually a larger than average 06 series chip and the TU116 is closer to what is normally fielded than Nvidia.

If that is the case,it might explain the pricing structure.

At the very least whether the performance metrics are accurate, there is a Geforce RTX which has been registered.

Re: Consumer Turing to be known as RTX series??

It seems weird that they would do the whole GPP thing in order to gain control of known brands only to suddenly change their top end from a years old known GTX to RTX (which sounds like an amd card).

Looks like the Quadro is a RTX series card:

    https://www.anandtech.com/show/13214...u-architecture

At 754MM2 the GPU is huge!!

    Edit!!

Nvidia is teasing in one of its video an RTX2080 in a cryptic way:
