How high a temperature can I take my 1GHz Athlon to? (It's about 41 under full load).
I normally try to keep temperatures below 55C - 60C is when I start worrying. Bear in mind that normal motherboard sensors aren't (according to my fellow Hexites) all that accurate.
Hit 50 and you're getting hot. I tried to keep below that with my Athlon 850.
This may seem a stupid question but can TIM melt?
That's what I thought, but (correct me if I'm wrong) it's the only way to measure the CPU temp. :)Quote:

If you've got a good heatsink and fan with good thermal paste it's probabaly not going to fry, you'll probably lock up and not be able to get into windows long before that happens I think but won't do any serious damage as long as you step it up gradually
