I finally can't get above 185fsb without upping the d-ram voltage which I won't try for a while, but im at 2.14ghz 100% stable which i'm happy with

mate dont worry about the ram voltage (within reason obviously )

i bet your ram can hold 2.9 or 3v without much hassle chances are u will just get a bsod and restart due to heat issues ive put my ram way beyond what i should many times and ive never had a faile dimm yet .....

besides your running your cpu well out of spec , why not your ram

But I'm not stable 188fsb with 2.7 on the dram. What about my RAM timings, im at
3, 4, 4, 8 could I slacken them off even more without too much of a hit on performance. ALso what about updating the bios, I'm still using the one that came with the board? John

lol mate , honestly im pretty sure your ram could take 3.0 volts most likely more ...... be brave young jedi !

ok you have an abit board , go to the abit site they have an easy windows bios update tool which downloads and flashes for u u reboot and its done ! very easy and quick ive never had a problem with it in about 2 years or something so give that a bash

first off your timings are pretty slack as it is , u can raise your last digit in your timings a fair bit ive seen alot of folk with it as high as 11 raise it to 10 or maybe 11 put your ram to 2.9 v do not worry about it

if u have a spare case fan lying around do as i used to and plug a fan into a molex and have it blowing over your ram sticks , i stopped because it was the only fan in my system and annoyed me , and for 3 months my ram has lasted fine at 230 fsb at 3v with no airflow atall no case fans or nothing

second thoughts i forgot ur useing an nf7 board download this program ... http://www.home.fh-karlsruhe.de/~wis...-0.8.7-dev.zip

its a windows based overclocking tool , i use it to change ram timeings and fsb in windows so i can crank up the cpu when needed and turn it down when not needed

it also gives u real time temps and voltage readings for cpu ram system etc and has plenty other options if u care to get into them , as i said i juse use it for the basic raiseing and lowering of the fsb and volts....

it will also show u how bad these boards undervlot the cpu as mine is set to 1.75 in bios and shows something like 1.675 worth keeping an eye on!

    enjoy yourself !

OK mate, I'll be brave aqnd upp the volts and cpu. I'll slacken the ram a little more and then i'll tell you how it goes. cheers for the help.

Also, i have my one fan blowing in full speed onto the ram and the other threerunning off the 7v. so not bad airflow

I went upto 2.8v on the ram and 1.75 on the cpu and still failed at 188fsb so i'm not going to get much further. Maybe update the bios and try again?

I'm running the 26 bios, will the 27 bios give any improvements from your experience with regards to overclocking?

what are you useing to check stability ?

have you tried booting at 200 fsb ?

also whenever i try prime95 it always fails , so i dont use it as i have also seen on the abit boards it has some issues with some nf7's

for me stability is not about whether my machine can crunch prime number and not have one digit out of place for however many days some people might deem stable

i test with the the likes of cpuburn for a quick check then leave it going for a while if i havent crashed i do 3dmark runs and setup rinrar compressing a dvd file ripped to risc for something to do leave that going for a hour or two if it passes that does me

my machine runs for weeks on end with the cpu at 2.6ghz without a problem and do lots of tasks on it

some people beleive in prime some dont

use your machine for a few hours doing the hardest gameing or editing or anything u will do if its stable its stable

also , did u download the program i linked to 8rdavcore it will show your voltages and temps in real time like i said let me know your voltages for everything under load
