Question is my 2.2ghz overclock with my 2600xp ok?

You may know that i recently bought an NF7-v2 and it's great. I have my fsb upto 192 giving 2.2ghz and my multiplier set to 11.5. Iseemed to have problems at 400fsb which is where I would like to aim but I would like to increase as little voltage as possible. I have it at 1.7 vcore because apparently the NF7 undervolts and my ram is at 2.6 but I don't really want to have to change that because apperently the NF7 overvolts RAM. I have disable all the options that help overclocking in the advanced bios like fsb spectrum and bios cacheable. What should I do to get 400mhz stable? Thanks, oh and do you know any other tests like prime95 I could try. John

PS- load temps are around 54 degrees with 1.7 vlots

One the test front www.memtest86.com zak33 has a thread praising posted this week. It is used to find errors on the RAM.
    Thread - http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=39395

Otherwise, if you are not going to up the voltage any more i dont think there is anything you can do to get 200fsb. Your RAM is only pc2700 (assuming you are using the same as in your sig) which is default 166, it is good that you got it to 192.

What are your timings? Your may be able to tighten them to get a slight performance increase.

It could be either your RAM or your CPU that doesn't like being at 200, and since you have P2700 RAM, I'd guess it was the RAM. Try slackening the timings when you increase the FSB - if that helps, then it probably is the RAM.

What ratio's are you running in bios for cpu/ram?

6/6, my ram is at slack timings I think and I just got an eroor after the middle torture test in prime after about 3 hours so I'm going to have to go down to 190fsb. Could I use ratois to determine whether my RAM is at fault rather than my cpu? I'll try memtest, thanks.

Yes - if you set the RAM to a lower speed than the CPU (e.g. RAM 166mhz, CPU FSB 200) and there isn't a problem, then you know that the RAM is at fault. You shouldn't leave it like that though - Athlon XPs like running in sync with RAM.

Also, which torture test should I use to determine stability? The:

Small FFTs (maximum fpu stress, data fits in l2 chache, RAM not tested much)

In place large FFT's (maximum heat, power consumption, some RAM tested)

Blend (tests some of everything, lots of RAM tested)

Which of these three would I be best to use to determine stability in my case. Thanks.

I normally use Blend because, as it says, it tests everything. I use In place large FFTs someimes as well when I want to test for heat.

Ok, I have set my cpu at 400 and my ram at standard 333 and everything looks good so far and I just got 3080 3dmarks in 05 no problems. It's running blend in prime welll as well so itlooks like ym RAM is holding me back. IS it risky to up the bvoltage to 2.7?

Yeah the cpu is fine at this speed, but the ram is the problem, will it be risky to raise the ram voltage by a notch and will it affect the lifespan by a great deal. If i could reach 400fsb it would be great and then I would settle for that. Its currently at 2.6

what voltage is your ram set at ?

most ram should be able to take 3 volts , for axtra reasurance run a small blowing directly over the ram and you will be laughing

2.6 volts, torture test is now failing at 188 fsb after 13 minutes! guess i'm going to have to drop down a bit or up the voltages.

Right I upped the cooling, my higher intake and exhaust fans are at maximum and I have a system exhaust going as well. I'm going to try and take it upto 400fsb stable, will 0.1v extra on the RAM decrease lifespan significantly and will it be risky, because I don't have the money to take risks to but have the ambition to reach 400fsb stable. My cpu is fine at that speed it's just my RAM, any answers on the volts?

2.8V is within manufacturer spec for most RAM. I daresay 3V would be perfectly safe TBH, mine has been at 2.9V for the last month with zero issues. Neither of my NForce2 boards like 2x512 sticks so I can't get it above 185 unfortunately, which limits my OC, I'm sure the CPU could do a bit more than 2.3GHz.
