    Ryzen Computer Builders- read this!

    Hi all,

If you are looking to build a new AMD Ryzen computer soon, this is worth a look - you can get a X370 based Gigabyte AM4 motherboard for £45. You can then claim £30 of Steam vouchers, meaning the board effectively costs £15. Stick a USB drive on the order to take it over £50, and you get free shipping too!

CCL computers is on Topcashback too, so an extra 44p or so can be got there!

The GA-AX370M-DS3H motherboard doesn't get the best reviews - mainly the bad points being it has a poor BIOS, and the voltage regulators get hot if overclocking, as well as the usual Ryzen RAM finickity, but for £15 - not complaining!

    Cheers!

Yeah,I saw that on Ebuyer for a brief period they were offering a Pizza Express voucher and a Steam voucher too when it was nearer £60!! The current offer is upto £40 for a Gigabyte board.

Great deal though especially with a 200GE.

    Edit!!

Here is the link as your one is broken:

    Second Edit!!

Once you factor in the £30 voucher, you can do an entire base unit build for under £250,ie,£267.77 plus you can get cashback too.

Just a quick pointer with CAT's system suggestion - not sure if this is 100% correct but generally, the Athlon 200GE has been advertised as not needing a BIOS update to work with all AM4 boards.

However, when you check out the CPU compatibility of this board, it says it needs BIOS F23 to work with this CPU - therefore, if the stock is older and ships with an older BIOS, you may have issues. CCL say they will update the BIOS for you for free if you buy a motherboard with a CPU though - have to ask them to do it however!

Saying that, has anyone tried to use the 200GE with this Mobo on an earlier BIOS? Does it work like the general Mobo consensus says it will?

    Cheers!

pls keep this BARGAINS thread nice and Bargainy.. and less techy please guys. Aim your tech suggestions toward Hardware, where possible.

Primariliy it's because people looking for excellent advice (this BIOS advice for example) will never ever look in the Retal Therapy and Bargains forum.

    Cheers all

I've moved this to hardware, but left a redirection pointer in the bargains section, which will be there for a couple of months.

Re: Ryzen Computer Builders- read this!

Regarding the BIOS - the Gigabyte X370 mATX boards came with support for the Ryzen 2000 series APUs from their first BIOS releases(I pointed it out at the APU launch) since at the time many boards required the boot kit to work:

    https://forums.hexus.net/hexus-news/...ml#post3948512

There was no 400 series boards out at the time, and very few boards which worked on the launch BIOSes with the APUs. The 200GE is basically a 2200G/2400G with parts disabled so if they need a compatible BIOS that rules out every single 300 series board, most X470 ones, and probably a few B450 ones, which would be weird.

Regarding the BIOSes - many X470 won't list the 200GE as compatible out of the box,but a number of B450 do. Also, regarding support a number of the newer B450 boards support the 200GE with launch BIOSes - many of the X470 boards have 200GE compatability as listed with newer BIOSes only.

Another thing which hasn't been made clear is MSI have introduced CPU-less BIOS flashing lower down the range now:

    https://www.msi.com/news/detail/0c1e...ca717fc02096e7

Look for the BIOS Flashback+ logo on a board, and you don't need a boot kit.
