    Need gamma changing software

    Hi guys.

I could do with some simple software that increases the brightness in games. When playing CS I seem to always get shafted in dark areas because I can never see anyone. It doesn't even have to be that dark - I'm clearly easily visible but I can't see sh*t so I could do with cranking the gamma.

I used to use powerstrip but I'm not a big fan anymore.

    Anyone got any reccomendations?

    Cheers

AFAIK powerstrip is the only program around that does this. I used to have the same problem, It turned out to be the dodgy 17" monitor I used to have, I googled trying to find software, and all I found was powerstrip. In the end it bugged me so much I moved to a 15" CRT instead, and everything was solved. Now Ive moved to a new rig and a 17" TFT, and all is good.

Sorry I cant be much more help

Just had a quick look, and found this http://www.passmark.com/products/monitortest.htm . Not a replacement for powerstrip, but It could be useful calibrating your monitor... not used it myself, but its got a 30 day free trial

ur gfx drivers should have adjustments for gamma, so do most games (though cs is fixed to prevent unfairness)

Well I'm using a Radeon 9700 pro and my monitor is a 22" Compaq P1220 - one of the very best CRTs around. It's calibrated with the Nokia setup tool which is quite good.

On my dad's crappy machine it looks much lighter though and I would go so far as to say the image quality is perhaps better. He's using a geforce 2 mx or sommat.
