Re: Is my pc overheating?
From what I can tell no your computer isn't overheating but your graphics card is running very high if it ever goes over 95°C then you should turn off your pc and let it cool down a bit. Also cleaning it would be a great idea and will lower the temps by a decent amount. As well Speccy sometimes has the wrong temperature eg my old cpu Athlon X4 860K always showed high temps like 80 or 90 but in reality it was always 20°C cooler than what was shown
Re: Is my pc overheating?
The GPU is definitely overheating and probably needs a clean inside like emilsobo said, don't re-install Windows yet.. The CPU temperature looks very good.
I think this would help it massively..

Re: Is my pc overheating?
Yeh clean that heat sink - I cleaned the radiator on my CPU recently and it was utterly caked after a few years of neglect.
Is that an at stress measurement or not? If that's stress I'd not worry so much but if it's a tickover measurement then something is very wrong.
Re: Is my pc overheating?
thanks! do you guys know what that spray hes using to clean the thermal paste?

Couldnt see anything he sprayed the thermal paste off with.. but he used compressed air to clean the heatsink.

Yeah I saw that, I think he used something that didn't help in the slightest :D
I wonder if it was glasses cleaner or something, but I suspect if you can store it in a plastic bottle then it won't be much of a solvent, and if it is then spraying it around the circuit board seems a bad idea.
I usually scrape/wipe the worst off, then use a small bottle of acetone bought from the chemist (had to ask for it, there was only scented nail varnish remover on the shelves). Dab some onto a bit of kitchen roll, polish the last of it off. Harsh solvents, carefully controlled on a wipe.
Re: Is my pc overheating?
He might have used IsoPropylAlcohol (IPA) Which is a less aggressive solvent. It will remove thermal paste - just takes longer and a bit more effort.

He was scraping though, a *lot* of scraping. I really couldn't see any solvent effect.
Re: Is my pc overheating?
If you watch some of his later videos he's using IPA so i guess he used that, although looking at how ineffective it was i suspect it may have been a 70% dilute intended for infection control.

Ja, because he may have been using IPA. Spray that on a TIM pad, and you'll still have a TIM pad 20 minutes later. It's awful at shifting big lumps of the stuff, which is why you need to scrape a lot.
I favour ArctiClean myself, but we have been known to use electrical contact cleaner, which smells the same... I think it's the Tetrachloroethylene in it?
We've even used brake cleaner, which must be referred to as 'Bremsenreiniger', and which is spoken with the worst German accent you can manage.

Hopefully not the slightly acidic version? But yeah, IPA sounds about right.
Overall I wasn't impressed with that video, another example that you don't have to be an expert to be on youtube. Lack of static protection, amazed he didn't lose any screws the way the card was dangled off the edge of the table. Particularly liked the hard drive resting on its edge just waiting to get knocked over. Surprised he wasn't using Mr Muscle oven cleaner and an impact screwdriver :D
Re: Is my pc overheating?
Are those temps under load?
89C is... well, normal for a 6970. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/...D_6970/32.html
CPU isn't really cause for concern either. If you're not having any other problems I wouldn't worry about it, but cleaning out the dust from heatsinks is always worthwhile.
Re: Is my pc overheating?
I'm thinking to replace my cpu cooler, any suggestion would be appreciated
