    adsl modem uploads

    hi ya guys and girls

    i have heard about changing the capping rates on modems, firstly i want to know if i can increase the upload speed of my line by over capping the modem secondly, how easy is it???

    i will be purchasing my own modem as i need an ethernet one to run through mu linux fire wall

    I found a website about a week or 2 ago with a forum that explained how to do this i think.

    It's illegal so you wont be getting any help here. Its basically fraud

    Basically most ISP will provide you with an upload speed of 25kb/s , regardless of your download speed be that 512k or these new cheap 2mb ones.

    To get anything that you aren't paying for is illegal as a general rule I would have said. Upload bandwidth capacity is more expensive for ISPs IIRC.

    Also becuase if they gave you lots of upload bandwith you could run your own webserver from home over the connection which they probably wouldn't want..
