Most sites seem to cite the discounts against the RRP or original price, rather than the current price, so it's worth checking price comparisons and history sites like CamelCamelCamel to decide how good of a deal something is. You'll also sometimes see prices bumping upwards in the run up to black Friday, so be aware of that as well.
You'll also see that most of the hugely reduced stuff is previous generation or clearance. So you'll be getting a decent reduction but more likely for something that has been replaced or there is a surplus of stock for some reason.
I tend to buy a fair bit on black Friday, if you can spot the good deals then it makes Xmas shopping much easier, and there are real bargains to be had.
Seen some good deals on collection only on Black Friday. There was a monitor on PC worlds website which was £800 orginially and then £450 if you collected it on store. Another companies buy prices was £580!
Can be good, but as Virtuo said do your homework on Camelx3 as Amazon sellers in particular can be sneaking when it comes to the RRP.
So..did anyone buy any Black Friday hardware?
I bought an Amazon Basics Mini Display port to HDMI cable.
YAY.. an actual real Black Friday purchase :)
As mentioned in another thread, I got a stack of WD Red 10TB NAS drives (via a significant BF discount on WD Mybook Duo DAS enclosures), a Synology DS 1618+, and a Logitech G29 (with shifter) for £130 after Currys price-matched the wrong thing.. :)
Few other bits and pieces, mostly xmas gifts
Got myself a 500gb m.2 Samsung 970 evo ssd for £89. Gathering dust on my ryzen 5 1600, asus x370-f and 16gb gskill rgb ram that i haven't had time to put together yet.
Bought a Samsung 40" TV for the missus - got it £50 cheaper than it was on Amazon. :)
purchase a big deal, Purchase safety glasses by Udyogi Safety.
SUch a nice deal grab it now
2018 black friday seemed to be a miss for me, hopefully will be able to find a decent keeb and monitor this year.
I'm in no rush so I think I'll be waiting until black Friday to try and pick up a 3700x and z570. I'm sure I remember seeing some good Ryzen deals last year!
Wow, this is an old one. Just saw it.
When I lived in the USA Black Friday was a great time. Built my first PC (and joined Hexus in the process) thanks to Black Friday. Got a UPS for $5, monitor for $50, free AV license, $5 HDD and I don't recall what else. Mostly all from Best Buy. Actually did a camp out job for it, arriving at midnight beforehand and was about 6th in line. Some incredible deal to be had.
The version of Black Friday that has slowly moved across the pond hasn't been as spectacular, at least as far as I've seen, but then I'm no longer in the market for spending like before, so I've not been checking.
