DFI SLI DR BIOS version, and settings..

Owners of this board.. What BIOS varsion are you running, and why..?

Just curios to know what I'll gain or risk by moving to another version - this one seems stable, but I might be missing out on something - esp when I push to overclock...

I'm currently running 25/01/2005, and wondered what settings people whould recommend, cos it's all pretty much at default or Auto right now, except for forced RAM timings at 2-2-2-5 200MHz 1T...

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions,
    S.

Generally speaking if it isn't broken, dont fix it. If you refer over to the DFI boards many have been having compatibility issues with certain memory especially when trying to run 2 sticks of tccd and moving to a newer bios has helped them.

I am currently using the latest beta bios, 18th Feb I think it is as I was having trouble getting things to run. This seems to have solved my stability issues now.

Does your current version of the bios have memtest86 built in? My current one does (brilliant idea) but I dont recall it being included on the shipped version.

What trouble were you having, just out of interest?

No, it doesn't - this is exactly the kinda funky stuff I could be missing out on, but I'll wait for an official release BIOS with it in, I guess..

What O/C have you had Pudds? I'm still running the official release BIOS, and am having moderate success with giving my 3500+ a good workout. Still working on it - any advice appreciated..

Please follow my other thread: A little help O/C'ing 3500+ plz...?

    Thanks guys,
    S.

Ive got my 3000+ up to 2.7Ghz prime stable 72 hours. I did go for a certain stepping though (0448 SPAW) , not many people will get this high.

Mine would not boot stable with 2 sticks of ram. If I had 1 stick in the first orange dimm slot then its was ok. This has been a common problem with this motherboard. Most have been able to solve it with newer bios, increasing voltage or loosening timings.

Its still early days for this motherboard. I'm sure that a few more bios revisions will sort out all the niggles.

I tried 217/218, but didn't see any improvement, other that a few more BIOS goodies that confused the hell out of me.. I did notice that power management was a little screwy with 217/218, in that Windows refused to respond to a soft-off powerbutton push, and worse still wouldn't powerdown after shutdown.

I was a bit miffed, and worried that I'd crackered something, so dropped back to 125 and all was normal again. Haven't changed since, as I'm still trying to find what limitations I have.
