Akasa Eclipse 62 problem...

Ok this is weird. I installed a 120mm fan in the front, And now I can't get the removable HDD cage to go back in. There is a plate on the left which prevents this, I'm pretty sure this is supposed to happen, as it is quite near the fan, but what am I to do instead? Do you have to take out the removable cage which has room for a 2 3.5inch devices and put this in, or is there something I'm overlooking?

Look at the bottom right of this image to give you an idea, you see the HDD rack, well I can't get mine right in because of my 120mm fan.

Edit: This is not my case btw, as mine doesn't go right in.

is your fan a 25mm or 38mm thick? if its 38 it may be too big...

Must be 38. I thought that was the standard size.

25mm is standard afaik... 38mm ones are usally beefy loud ones like tornados or deltas...

Ah. I've got 38s then. Bugger. Does that mean I'l have to change? Or can I just take out the middle floppy rack and put it there instead?

The problem is though that on the left side of the drive cage there is a piece of metal that sticks out; do you see it on yours? Well that hits the fan. So I'm not exactly sure how to fix this. I'l have a fiddle, and I'l measure the fans and see what happens.

I did some checking last night, and I really can't see how it will work. They are 38's, and I tried a few things, but you can't get the fan in unless you take the HDD case off, and the only way I can see it going back on is by cutting the piece of metal that sticks out at a 45 degree (ish) angle off.

Have you got yours yet PD?

Does that piece of metal actually serve a purpose? There is none I can see. Is it OK to cut it off?

Ok doke. I made some measurements, and it would fit without it. But if I don't have to chop if off that would be good. I don't think it matters which way around you mount it, but surely it should be compatible with 38mm fans. Let's see what you come up with.

Right. I'm planning on using 3 38mm fans. A Delta screamer on my HSF, and two YS-TECH FD1238 120mm Fan - 4 Pin (FG-004-YS), found At this bottom of this page.

I have myself a Nexus Vantec fan controller, which I'm planning on plugging them all in to.

Does that seem right? I'm using an Asus A8N SLi Deluxe edition btw.

Ok. Well, let me know when you hear anything. If this isn't sorted by the weekend I may well just go ahead with cutting. However if the 38's don't fit I would happily take complimentary fans from Akasa, since they never stated this, and I'm to late to return the fans now.

I really need help, sorry if I'm rushing you, but any RMA's will be running out soon (if they haven't already) and I really need to get this up and running, I've had all the parts for weeks now. I want it going this weekend if possible. Anything? PD, can you chase up that AKASA guy? Ask him what the deal is, cheers.

Ok, I can't really wait much longer on this, so I've decided to bend it back. If you do come up with a solution please email me or post this here. I'm quite interested in what AKASA would say to this.
