they need it in my opinion, their current site is an eyesore, and certainly not a patch on some really nice sites from their competitors - ebuyer especially has a fantastic layout..

Axion I've always found them very good for customer service but then I suppose every retailer (esp online) has lapses from time to time. The only seller I have found to have repeatedly and consistently awful service is Ebuyer ... just try their phone number (for which they get half the cost of the call). They may be better now as they are popular around here now.

Dabs have a good service and a good range, but they are pricey compared to others. My customer service experience has been very good, things get refunded quickly. However... their website is a shambles!

Product info is diabolical, layout appauling, searching a complete pain in the arse. They should take a lesson from ebuyer, ocuk whihc have clear easy to use interfaces.

It all great to praise the companies mentioned but most of these are great if you live mainland UK but shipping to elsewhere charges are restrictive, nobody wants to pay 15 to 20 pounds for shipping. thats why if you live in Northern Ireland or other outer parts of the UK, Dabs are your only choice.

adypius, have you tried KustomPCs? Although they don't specifically state on their web site, quite a few of their forum members are from Northern Ireland - and they are also customers.

If you want to check up on what they can and can't do, e-mail them at sales@kustompcs.co.uk 'cos I have a feeling that, if there is a premium on their delivery charge, it's not big, and delivery is only £2.85 per order.

Simply are a great example of modernising their web site and then rendering it virtually useless but DABS have one great advantage over all the rest, - it's easy to cancel an order, provided it hasn't yet been dispatched.

Doing that with Scan for example, is a royal pain - and they don't own up and tell you something isn't actually in stock.

Since you can search by product type or by manufacturer, I find DABS site quite easy to navigate.

    That's my tuppence worth.

LOL at some of the people. Product info on dabs is bad, WTF!!!???

I mean, they are by far the largest stocker in the UK, check out how many things they sell and how MOST , lik 98% or so, always have accurate product info, Ebuyer in particular have a LOT of things with no pictures or product info. They are blinking useless.

In the last few months , like one week ago dabs picked up a tft that was getting progressively worse, when i got it, 19" tft, it was great, good enough response to play fps games, after a week it started to get much worse. There is 100% no way on earth i could prove it got worse, was still fine to use for everything but gaming. THey approved ram in like 2 days, picked up next day, and money is already on credit card. Yeah, suxor. Ggabyte mobo, rma'd from DOA in about 6 days total.

Very often first stockers of newest stuff, very quick turnover of stock so always(on aobut 13 cpu's i've always had the latest stepping, and i always get the latest cpu's, these are steppings out brand new and rarely available elsewhere) latest stuff.

The site is hard to navigate, are you even joking? The quick search always finds whatever i'm looking for in 3 seconds. THe rest of the site is VERY obvious and easy to find anything. Ebuyer i find much worse, as they have a limited number of sections, and a lotta stuf funder silly sections.

    Ah well.

oh, and shops and stores like OCUK, look at how many different things they stock, probo less than 1000 diff items, maybe a lot less? They ahve a pretty plan site, but yes easy to navigate, so what. you try to run the site looking like that with probo 5000 diff items available. Use ya brain, it can't be done, unless you want to look through lots of lists, that are all coloured and pretty and takes you taht much longer to load each page.
