Recommendations for a 4G MIFI Device or SIM enabled Router?
I need need a router with a simcard slot or a Modem with a Sim Card slot for use with 3 mobile. I am moving away from my BT landline due to reliability issues.
I am yet to decide which I want - mifi device wired to a separate router or Router with the sim card built in. I prefer the ''all in one'' router, but this will be nestled away under the stairs in my AV cupboard (risk to signal?) vs separate modem which i can put on a window cill/Attic & run CAT6 cable back to AV Cupboard.
Has anyone ever set up similar before? Any experience with 3 mobile 4G speeds? Our area is rated as good for outdoor, with 'ok' indoor coverage. Sim card is on its way out to us to test.
Many thanks,

I have used (and using) Asus routers with Merlin for 3G/4G USB dongles. Or a mobile phone connected via the USB (tethered). But no routers with direct SIM support.
I've heard TP-LINK has quite a few SIM ready models, I'll suggest to hit Google and look for some reviews, tests and comparisons.

tbh I don't even know if there's such a thing as a mobile modem than can be wired back to a switch via CAT 6, but the easy way to work out what would be best would be to test it - get a cheap smartphone and a 3 PAYG SIM card (which only charge 1p/MB for data) and run speedtest checks at different times of day, both in the cupboard and from a suitable window sill. Gives you an easy comparison (and then you've got a spare smartphone for emergencies, I guess?)...
