I've just been reading an interesting Thread over on CPU City's Forums about the new 1.6ghz Durons... Overclocked to 2536mhz on Air! Then they modded it, unlocking the 256kb L2 Cache...
Seems like they could be the next big thing, alongside the Barton 2500's!

Using less of the L2 cache should enable them to run a little cooler and achieve higher clock speeds too. However going on the classic Duron days there's likely to be a 10% speed diff between an AthlonXP and a Duron, 15% between the Duron and a Barton. I wouldn't expect many Durons would do 2.5ghz or even 2.3ghz TBH. Even at 2.5ghz the Duron with 64k L2 would be on par in speed terms with a 2.25ghz TbredB or 2.15ghz Barton. At 2.3ghz it would be on par with 2.07ghz Tbred or 2.00ghz Barton. Of course there is a chance of enabling all 256k L2 cache on these new Durons but I bet VERY few will do it successfully (< 10%?) and even then it would probably negate the higher clock speeds. With TbredB starting under £40 and Barton for under £70 it's hard to think why you'd risk it really ...
