    Audigy 2 ZS & Logitech Z-680

I originally purchased the Logitech Z-680 as part of my PC build but ended up using them as a surround system for my Satellite and DVD player connected via an optical lead. I have finally ordered the soundcard, the audigy 2 ZS soundcard (OEM) and I am ready to connect the Z680 to the PC.

Can I use the optical lead i already have with the aid of a toslink to 3.5mm adapter like the one is this link ?adapterhttp://www.astarsolutions.co.uk/products/?pc=1111&c=c&sc=127 . If yes, will this improve the quality of sound over the normal connections to the soundcard ?

    Thanks for your help.

The back plate on the Audigy 2 ZS does not have an optical connection port. However on the side of the card is a S/PDIF port is this an optical connection ?

oops sorry mate im thinking your card is the one with loads of connections and assumed it would have an optical out ,

personally i would ebay your current card and get the optical its the best connection technically , otherwise im sure the convertor u mention would do the job fine but for best results a direct connection is preferable

Keep in mind that when you move to a digital connection from an Audigy2 you will be going back to stereo which is then processed back into surround by those Logitech Speakers - so will not be true surround (unless from something like an AC3 source such as a DVD).
