    Sound Card with Phono Ouputs?

    Hi there,

I'm looking for cheap external sound card with phono outputs so that I can connect my computer to my hifi with hi quality phono cable, is there one out there? If not can anyone recommend me a good place to buy a 3.5mm to phono cable.

    Thanks,

    Pickers

You can get loads of good quality 3.5mm to twin phono cables.

Alternatively the SB audigy platinum eX for around £80 at ebuyer has an external box that has the connection you're looking for. Very nice card too.

Think I'll give the terratec a miss, a bit pricey for me! I've got an Audigy at the minute so I think I'll buy the good quality cable. Thanks for the link fondie, good site,

Just get a decent 3.5mm to phono cable. The internal connectors on most of the cards mentioned above (with the exception maybe of the M-audio) will cause far more signal degradation than the cable you use to connect to your hifi. The audigy and others offering a 'front' bay or 'breakout connectors' often use the cheapest bell-wire to connect the phono out to the sound card through a very RF-noisy environment (ie the inside of your case).
