    Anyone own Nforce3 with SATA

Just a quick question about problems I’m having with SATA drivers.

I know about the F6 install routine and everything but if i use the F6 disc the XP install crashes before getting to the licence screen. If i don't use the F6 disc, it installs but will not boot it crashes with a blue screen and resets so no chance to get the exact msg.

I have managed to get it working fine with 2K.

The board is Asus K8N with fully updated bios, 1024MB Geil RAM, AMD 2800 64bit, with a 160GB Seagate barracuda

If anyone has had similar problems i would really like to hear

im using an NF3 with SATA and i have had none of the problems you described.

In fact it worked flawlessly by pressing F6 with the floppy in.

Not much use i know but just to let you know it works on mine.

    btw mine is a DFI UT250 (S754)

Either you're installing the wrong driver or you have a problem with your setup. Could be a BIOS setting. Also, make sure you're using the correct connector for your SATA drive. If your board is the one I'm thinking of you have SIL and NF3 SATA controllers. Make sure you're using the right everything. READ YOUR MANUAL!!!

Have you ever had the system running properly with or without SATA?

Try using only one stick of DDR in the first DIMM slot and see if that doesn't help the rebooting problem.

Make sure you select the RAID Driver and the mass storage driver

Thanks everyone, i have tried only one stick of ram and just about every bios setting i can find it all seems a bit crazy to me, done all you have suggested, and plenty of manual reading not that there is anything in it worth reading. Oh well thanks for your input,
just a small rant but why do they bother writing manuals with no usefull information in, in the section describing the BIOS they have really crazy names for some of the settings and in the book all they have is a one line description often just the name retyped. anyway googled every single setting to find out what they all really mean

i have it running 2K so i think i will just stick whith that until a move to linux

Try installing your Win XP on another computer. Your media may be bad.

I use MSI K8N Neo2 and no problem with Sata at all.
Try to update bios and re-install windows again for fix this problem.
